Kelley Argie, associate director of the Makin' It Happen Coalition, said her group will buy the questionnaire from Pride Survey Co. and pay to distribute it throughout the city's four middle schools in mid- to late-March.
"It's the largest survey tool of its kind in the nation," said Argie, adding that Pride has been in business more than 20 years and has polled more than 10 million school children in that time.
Argie said the survey is similar to one given to high school students every other year by the federal Department of Education. Those surveys include questions about sexual activity, while the Pride Survey will not.
"It will really just give all of us an idea of what's going on with our youth," said Argie.

Argie said the test has built-in filters and a trick question to weed out inconsistent answers, but she stressed the main ally on the side of truth is anonymity."I think they're straightforward because they're anonymous," she said.
