    SAN FRANCISCO - Archbishop George H. Niederauer, named by Pope Benedict XVI in December to be the new leader of the Catholic Archdiocese of San Francisco, will be installed as Archbishop of San Francisco in a special liturgy and Mass on Wednesday, Feb. 15, at the Cathedral of Saint Mary of the Assumption, known as St. Mary's Cathedral, in San Francisco.

    Several thousand people are expected to attend the Installation Mass, including representatives from the 90 parishes, 100 churches, and dozens of Catholic organizations within the archdiocese; hundreds of priests, deacons and members of religious orders; approximately 50 Catholic Bishops; and scores of dignitaries and guests from the civic, community and interfaith communities.

    Most Reverend William J. Levada, former Archbishop of San Francisco and now Prefect of the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith at the Vatican will preside at the Installation.
