    On trading technology: "Every major bulge bracket firm has a multitude of choices for execution, but you have to know which tool is working in which [type of] market," said the former co-head of liquid markets at Lehman.

    He also said he thought liquidity was harder to get in the days of Nasdaq, when it was a dealer market in practice as well as in name."There was less volume.Liquidity was more of an issue than it is today.It was a much harder market to execute in," he said.Arancio also said traders need to increase their understanding and knowledge of other asset classes beyond equities.

    Robert Arancio is a managing director and co-head of U.S. Liquid Markets Trading.In this role, Mr. Arancio co-manages the Firm's Equity, Flow Volatility, Relative Value and ADR trading desks in the U.S.

    Mr. Arancio began his career at Lehman Brothers in 1989, when he joined as a NASDAQ trader.He has also served as co-head of U.S. Cash Trading and head of U.S. Cash Trading.

    Before joining the Firm, Mr. Arancio worked on the NASDAQ trading desk at Drexel Burnham Lambert in New York City.

    Mr. Arancio currently serves on the Firm's Equity Management Committee, and is a member of both the Security Traders Association of New York (Second VP), and NASDAQ's Quality of Markets Committee.

    Mr. Arancio received his B.S. from the Columbia University School of Engineering and Applied Science.
