I then continued on into Hobart to the CDF Office where Brian Andrews was waiting to check two sacred vessels, items which will be part of the Augustine Pugin Exhibition for which he is the curator - the exhibition is to be held next year.

Mr Bacon said Mr Andrews has received the award for his scholarship in authoring the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery's catalogue Creating a Gothic Paradise: Pugin at the Antipodes.

"This is a major vindication for the efforts of Mr Andrews and also to the many talented staff at the Tasmanian Museum and Art Gallery who together produced such an exceptional exhibition and publication," he said.

The award was announced last evening at a major ceremony by Lord Andrew Lloyd Weber in London and was presented to Visiting Curator, Mr Brian Andrews.
