   Prior to Troy's appointment, the Dean of Programs position was held by Helen Eaton who left Merit in October 2007 to serve as the President and Executive Director of the Chicago Children's Choir.

   Troy Anderson joined Merit's staff in June 2007 as Director of the Preparatory Program and Dynamic Starts where he made an immediate impact with his wealth of experience in jazz performance, instruction and program development.Prior to coming to Merit, Troy served as Program Director at the David Adler Music and Arts Center in Libertyville, IL where he was responsible for all aspects of music programming.During his tenure at the Adler Center, Troy successfully increased enrollment, developed a highly successful summer program, implemented curriculum initiatives and established a highly successful faculty and student performance series.Troy earned his Bachelor of Music from the University of North Texas and his Master in Music from DePaul University where he conducted the Jazz Orchestra and Jazz Workshop.
   
   These appointments come at a pivotal point in Merit's history, as the organization continues to expand its programming in an effort to reach even more

   Shalisa will continue in her role as the Susan and Ted Oppenheimer Alegre Strings Chair, and Timothy will assume therole of Director of the Preparatory Program and Dynamic Starts, vacated by Troy Anderson.
