Pinner's partner Tracy Anderson, the mother of his young son who was born while he was on remand fighting extradition, is also critical of the Government.

Ms Anderson has dedicated herself to preparing the legal case for Pinner over the past two years.

Ms Anderson said she wondered what her family would have to go through to be together again.

"We are back to facing the brick wall of the Government, and the issue of time served is going to play a critical role," she said.

But Burnie's Tracy Anderson rejects the portrayal which Le Ann Stephens -- mother of victim Dawson Stephens -- gave to the Sunday Tasmanian last week.

And although Pinner's former wife has now also spoken out against him, Tracy Anderson's belief in the Wynyard-born basketball entrepreneur remains steadfast.

Their relationship developed after he returned to Tasmania in late 2001.

In June the following year Pinner was arrested facing extradition to the US, and a few months later Ms Anderson gave birth to their son Maguire.Pinner was eventually extradited in May last year.

She took up his fight and has spent two years working on his defence.

"I support Kirk because I believe in him as well as love him," she said.
