   Through an interview, counselors determine the necessary development of the person's idea, their entrepreneurial ability, their idea's feasibility and a plan. Counselors also provide an understanding of the market, making it easier for applicants to get a loan.
   
   Those expanding an existing business are offered ways to increase their marketing plan and ways to access additional capital. The program recently assisted in an expansion that resulted in 100 new jobs.

   Requirements for obtaining a loan through the program include completion of a 12-hour business start-up course two days per week for three weeks. The program utilizes a loan pool from locally owned Farmer's State Bank. There are no requirements for consultation without the intention of receiving a loan.
