   Thom is currently the Field Coordinator of the Peace Corps and Community Fellows Program at the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs. He is a former Volunteer having served four years (1991-1995) doing grassroots community development work in the Eastern High Atlas Mountains of Morocco, and was the Center Director for the United Seamen's Service in Casablanca 1997-1999)--a non profit organization concerned with the health, welfare and recreation of seafarers.

   Thom Anderson joined the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs in July of 1999. He currently manages both the Peace Corps Fellows Program (PCF) and the Volunteer Training and Support Program (VOLTS). He also teaches undergraduate courses in leadership and program development at Western Illinois University. Thom has a Master's degree in Recreation, Park and Tourism Administration and is certified by the Community Development Council as a Certified Community Developer (CCD).
   
   Employment Experience Anderson served four years in the Peace Corps (1991-1995) doing grassroots community development work in the Eastern High Atlas Mountains of Morocco. More recently, Anderson was the Center Director for the United Seamen's Service (1997-1999 in Casablanca, Morocco, a not-for-profit organization concerned with the health, welfare and recreation of seafarers.
   
   Responsibilities As Program Manager for the Peace Corps Fellows Program in Community Development, Anderson assists with fundraising, the recruitment of host communities, offers guidance to on-campus Fellows, and provides support to the Fellows serving their internships in rural communities across the State of Illinois.
   
   As Program Manager of the Volunteer Training and Support Program, Anderson provides volunteer management training to community development leaders in rural towns.
