The Longhorn Band Drumline is instructed by Vic Firth Artist and Educator Thad Anderson.

Thad Anderson completed his undergraduate work in Music Education at the University of Central Florida and holds a Masters of Music in Percussion Performance Degree from the University of Texas at Austin. He is currently working towards a Doctorate of Musical Arts degree and maintains a busy performing schedule. He is an alumnus with the Boston Crusaders Drum & Bugle Corps, and currently is an instructor for the Crusaders' front ensemble.

Thad Anderson - Front Ensemble - Thad currently presides over the Percussion Studies program at Southwestern University in Georgetown, TX. These duties include applied percussion lessons, the percussion methods course, and directing the Southwestern Percussion Group. He also currently has teaching responsibilities at the University of Texas at Austin campus where he directs and arranges for the storied Longhorn Band Drumline while he completes his Doctorate of Musical Arts degree.

Thad maintains a busy performing schedule around the greater-Central Texas community. This includes recent performances with the Austin and Waco Symphony Orchestras, as guest soloist with Conspirare, and as timpanist with the Victoria Bach Festival orchestra. With a strong interest in contemporary American art music, Thad has had the privilege of working with prominent American composers such as George Crumb, John Corigliano, and Joan Tower.

Additionally, Thad is highly active in the Percussive Arts Society community where he has served as chair of the Collegiate Committee and as a representative on the Board of Directors. Thad completed his undergraduate work in Music Education at the University of Central Florida where he studied percussion with Professor Jeffrey M. Moore and composition with Dr. Stella Sung. He received a Masters of Music in Percussion Performance from the University of Texas at Austin under Dr. Thomas Burritt. Thad is a proud member of the Pi Kappa Lambda National Music Honors Society.

Thad AndersonActive as an educator, composer, and performer, Thaddeus Robert Anderson is currently pursuing a Master of Music degree at the University of Texas at Austin where he serves as a teaching assistant in the percussion area.Some of his duties include private instruction, directing the steel drum band, and coaching percussion ensemble.Anderson completed his undergraduate work in music education at the University of Central Florida under the direction of Jeff Moore.

Anderson is also the chair of the PAS Collegiate Committee serving as the student representative on the PAS Board of Directors.

Thad is currently a Bachelor of Music Education candidate at the University of Central Florida in Orlando.He has studied with Jeff Moore (Assoc. Prof., UCF), Dr. Ken Broadway (Asst. Prof., Univ. of Florida), Tom Hurst, Clif Walker and Rick Cameron.Recently, Thad has performed with the University of Central Florida's Wind Ensemble, Chamber and Pop Percussion Ensembles, the Steel Band, and Marching Knights Drum Line.He has also performed as a "Millennium Drummer" for the Tapestry of Nations parade at Walt Disney World's Epcot.

This past summer he was a member of the Boston Crusaders Drum and Bugle Corps.Thad has received numerous awards including the Instrumentalist Magazine's First Chair Award, the Semper Fidelis award for Musical Excellence, and Band Honors from the American Musical Foundation.Thad is currently a member of the Percussive Arts Society, The National Society of Collegiate Scholars, The Collegiate Music Education National Convention, The Golden Key International Honor Society, and the founder and president of the UCF Collegiate Percussion Society.
