JACKSON, Miss. - Jackson State coach Tevester Anderson isn't ignorant of the fact: A No. 16 seed has never upset a top seed in the NCAA Tournament.
But as he packed his bags for the trip to New Orleans where his Tigers take on No. 3 Florida, he has just one thing to say about that.
"It's going to happen one day.It might as well be us," he said.
His Tigers (21-13) face the defending national champion Gators (29-5) on Friday in New Orleans.
Anderson said his team isn't given a chance by the prognosticators, but lets all the chatter go in one ear and out the other.
"We won't be intimidated by any means," he said.
...
"They're one of the best teams in all of college basketball," Anderson said."They have no weaknesses. They're big. They're strong. They can shoot the ball."
Unlike his players, Anderson has been to the NCAA Tournament. In his five-year stint at Murray State, he took the Racers to the tournament twice.
This time, though, he's got a not-so-secret weapon on his side.
...
Although the Gators are a 28-point favorite, Donovan, like Anderson, ignores all the talk.
