Trustee Terry Anderson moved, and the board concurred, to form a couple of committees to meet during the summer to discuss dress codes and enforcement of a profanity policy.
"I'm just concerned that so many of these kids don't learn what is appropriate language to use in polite society," Anderson said.
Anderson said she wanted the youth involved in the committees.
The board also discussed whether the DARE program was effective.A sixth grade teacher from Indian Hills approached the board and said he thought the value in the program was in students developing rapport with police officers who teach it.
Sixth graders attend DARE classes about 45 minutes a week during the spring semester. The course involves honing reading, writing and other cognitive skills, Anderson said.
