Terry Anderson is our kindergarten teacher. She taught kindergarten and first grade at Goddard for eight years before coming to Riverside in 1999 to be our literacy coach. She moved to the kindergarten classroom in 2004.
Mrs. Anderson enjoys teaching at Riverside because it feels like she is working with family. She loves to watch the expressions of her students as she reads a good book with them. She especially likes to watch the reaction of students when King Bidgood gets out of the tub.
Mrs. Anderson has been married for 34 years. She has three kids and is discovering the true joys of parenthood with her first grandbaby. She enjoys aerobics, reading and spending time with her family. -

"I am thrilled," said Terri Anderson, kindergarten teacher at Riverside Cultural Arts and History Magnet. "I love the change."
Anderson, who has taught half-day kindergarten for five years, can really see a difference even a couple months into the school year.
"With the half-day, I felt I really had to hurry. Everything felt rushed. I had to cover the same amount of material as schools with full-day, but with half the time," Anderson said.
"Now I have more time for projects and to address the standards. I can revisit and re-teach items. The kids are learning so much."
Anderson said her parents like the all-day classes, too. Many of her parents at first said they would miss the half-day classes, but as the year has gone on, they are pleased with the full-day.
The district filled 10 new sections of all-day kindergarten, 7.5 FTE positions were with new hires. Seltzer is the only elementary school to offer both all-day and half-day kindergarten.
