    Sue joined CFA in October 2004 as a project manager and finds specialist.She carries out contract work on ceramics and human bone for external bodies, as well as producing in-house reports on medieval and later finds and completing work on backlog sites to bring them to publication.She has recently taken on the role of Finds Manager for CFA, with responsibility for assessing finds assemblages and ensuring their correct processing and storage.She is currently webmaster for the Medieval Pottery Research Group website.

    Prior to this she worked as Finds and Post-Excavation Manager for Suffolk County Council Archaeological Service responsible for managing the finds team and supervising finds processing, writing finds reports, preparing project designs for post-excavation projects, and archiving site records and finds.She has considerable experience of copy-editing and typesetting reports and newsletters, organising displays and exhibitions of finds, and extra-mural teaching and lecturing to local groups.

    Sue specialises in the assessment and analysis of human skeletal remains (inhumed and cremated), post-Roman pottery, ceramic building material and medieval and later small finds.She has published a number of specialist reports and has written many technical reports for clients.Some of the larger human bone assemblages on which she has reported include The Hirsel, Borders; Monkwearmouth and Jarrow, Tyne & Wear; Norwich Castle Mall, Ormesby, Burgh Castle and Caister-on-Sea, Norfolk; and Ipswich Wolsey Street, Suffolk.She has also produced reports on large cremated bone assemblages from Essex, including a Roman group from Colchester.Published finds reports include large assemblages of pottery and ceramic building material from Thetford and Norwich.She has presented papers at national conferences and local archaeological societies.She has her own website, Spoilheap Archaeology, which is used as a teaching resource by several universities in the UK and USA.

    Defenders of Suffolk's honour, including Edward Martin, FSA, of Suffolk County Council Archaeological Service, and Sue Anderson of CFA Archaeology Ltd (author of a paper on the Westhorpe Hall terracottas in The Archaeological Journal, Vol 160 (2004)), rightly point out that (as the name suggests) the Duke of Suffolk's seat is still in Suffolk.
