This month's speaker is the Director of the Center for Advanced Technologies at St. Vincent's Hospital.Steve Anderson has 24 years experience in information systems with 21 years in the health care field.In 1989, Steve started with St. Vincent's as a systems analyst, moved into a programmer position, then in 1996 became database coordinator.After two years as Senior Vice President, with Ascension Corporation, Steve returned to St. Vincent's as the data warehousing manager and chair of the Digital Unit Task Force.Since 2003, he has worked with St. Vincent's to evaluate and implement emerging technologies in his role as director of the Center for Advanced Technologies.

Because hospitals print countless documents just to capture a signature, use of the technology should reduce administrative costs of paper-based processes, says Steve Anderson, data warehousing manager at St. Vincentâ€s.

"The enterprise layer that sits on top and understands the transactional component will be there, and as we work through these pilots, we then will have a better understanding of how much and what types of RFID technologies we will put into that layer," says Steve Anderson, director of the Center for Advanced Technologies at St. Vincent's.

When fully deployed, CIC's eSignatures will be used across a broad range of applications and operating environments including; patient documents such as admissions and consent forms, caregiver documents, medical forms and anesthesia records, internal documents such as check requests and requisitions.Many of these uses include desktop and wireless/mobile environments.
