The Lake Hamilton School District Board of Directors unanimously voted to hire Steve Anderson as the district's next assistant superintendent at its April meeting.
Anderson, 44, is in his third year as Lake Hamilton Junior High School principal. He will take over July 1 for LHSD Assistant Superintendent Bud Walston, who is retiring June 30.
...
A native of Atkins, Anderson worked nine years (1985-1994) as a history teacher and assistant football coach at Lake Hamilton High School before crossing town to become assistant principal at Lakeside High School. He returned to "Wolf country" in 1999.
"I had an excellent experience at Lakeside and learned a lot of things under some good administrators there. It was a good experience for me," Anderson said. "But Lake Hamilton has been home for the majority of my professional career."
...
Anderson competed with 43 other applicants for Walston's position, said Barbara Wood, who will take over for Frazier as the district's superintendent July 1.
...
"I felt confident, from having worked with Steve for three years, and having known him as the junior high principal and the kinds of decisions that he made there and knowing the kind of person he was there that I could trust him and that he would be loyal," Wood said.
...
Anderson, whose father is a retired coach and history teacher, and mother is a special education teacher in Atkins, has worked in public education for 21 years.
...
"That's the kind of people we want here at Lake Hamilton and Steve fits that bill perfectly." -

Lake Hamilton Superintendent Steve Anderson noticed the district going through too much fuel.
"Some suspicion came up, I had no idea about anyone involved," says Anderson.
The superintendent wanted to figure out what was going on, so he came up with a plan. Unbeknownst to anyone, the superintendent set up a hidden camera. As the gallons rolled up, the district was rolling on those who were pumping gas.
"Unfortunately, we found out it was three of our own," says Anderson.
...
The district won't say how long the thefts went on, but parents are happy that Anderson wears not only the hat of superintendent but sleuth.
...
We expect a certain level of behavior from our students, and we certainly expect that from our own people," says Anderson.
