In fact, the women -- Jenny Schmidt, Sherri Sorg and Sharon Anderson -- are taking their cause to the streets, literally.
...
"I called Sharon because I heard she had walked before and asked her to do it," Schmidt said, adding Anderson -- her former track coach from Woodmore High School 15 years ago -- said she'd sleep on it.

The cause also is personal to Anderson, a special education teacher at Genoa High School, who walked a marathon to benefit a student who had juvenile arthritis.
"It's unusual to learn about it from a child," said the 49-year-old Anderson.
...
Anderson, meanwhile, has a different walking schedule since she lives in Genoa and goes to school early.
But the three trained together on certain days during the 20-week workout schedule. They also met up with the three other members of the Northwest Ohio Joints in Motion team at various places, such as the Toledo Metroparks and University of Toledo track.
Some on the team run while others walk, Anderson explained. It all depends on the ability of the person -- but those with arthritis are encouraged to participate in whatever way possible because moderate exercise does help.
"With the right training it's within the reach of a lot more people than we imagine," she added. -
