   "No decision has been made right now, but if I had to say which one we're leaning toward, I'd say we're leaning toward Fort Myers," said Sharon Anderson, Fast Cats Ferry Service's vice president.
   
   The spot originally floated as the ferry's home base behind the Holiday Inn Riverfront in Bradenton lacks a terminal and gas pumps, but its proximity to Tampa and ample parking weigh in its favor.
   
   Fort Myers' location on Hendry Street offers lots of parking and boat fuel. But the big selling point is a three-year-old ferry terminal.
   
   "It's empty," Anderson said. "And it's four miles from the interstate."
   
   But a ferry based in Fort Myers would mean competition for Fast Cats. Atlantis Marine's X-Press offers trips from Fort Myers Beach to Key West and other area shuttles exist.
   
   "None of them go as fast as ours," Anderson said.

   Anderson said one solution might be to zip up to Bradenton from Fort Myers and then cruise to Key West.
   
   She added, "We haven't made any decision on the routes. Our main concern right now is completing the sea trials."
   
   The 150-seat "PurrSeaverance" is at Royal Crown Yachts in Tampa awaiting final U.S. Coast Guard approval. Its top speed is 56 mph, but engineers are making adjustments to increase that.

   With Cronin's CSL&G company ready to act as landlord, and Fast Cats' Vice President Sharon Anderson promising to produce the high-speed ferry to Key West, council members voted 4-1 to give Buquebus the money to get the company out of the building without a court fight.

   Anderson said her company would have a high-speed ferry at the riverfront building by May 1. The boat is now undergoing sea trials required by the Coast Guard that should be finished in a few weeks.
   
   The boat can carry 149 passengers on a trip Anderson said could be made to Key West from downtown Fort Myers in two hours and 15 minutes.
   
   Although some boaters have questioned that speed, she said the vessel's special technology allows it to travel faster than most high-speed ferries.
