    Scott Anderson
    ...
Scott Anderson is not new to the council scene, serving from 1997-2000 on the Brighton Township Council, and currently serving on the Parks and Recreation Committee. "I feel I can bring common sense based on logical reasoning and previous Municipal Council experience to Brighton Council,"says Anderson. "This will be sorely needed given the vacancies created by half of the incumbent council leaving." "As someone who operated a successful small business in this area for 35 years I know what it takes to make informed decisions, I know how to handle change that comes with growth and I am not afraid to speak out for what is right, for our community as a whole or for the individual resident." Scott says that he will only consider the use of consultants and other experts as a last resort. "I believe our municipal staff, council and local residents are more knowledgeable of this area's needs than outsiders and the Internet can supply a wealth of information [that's where the consultants get their information]," says Anderson. If elected he suggests forming a Red Tape Committee to explore ways of reducing duplication, paperwork and streamlining services to reduce costs, listen to concerns of local residents and report to council. "While retired seniors are of great benefit to our community it is the youth who are our future. We nurture, care for and educate these treasures and yet too often they are forced to leave to seek employment and opportunity in other communities,"says Anderson. "I will strive to bring employment and opportunities to our community. We are on the 401 corridor and yet ours is one of the few exits between Belleville and Toronto that has no industry to create employment, just signs telling people what lies beyond." "On environmental issues, we all share this planet Earth and as the dominant species we all share the responsibility of taking good care of it, just a farmer cares for his land in order to enjoy a decent lifestyle. We must all strive to insure that we leave a legacy of a healthy environment for our children and grandchildren to enjoy," says Scott.

Scott has been married to Mary for 46 years and has three children and eight grandchildren and has been a local business owner for the past 35 years.
