> It was a tale of two different teams for Northwest softball coach Ryan Anderson. Returning to the diamond for only the second time this season, the Bearcats compiled a 2-2 record at the Missouri Southern tournament, running its record to 5-2 overall. The Bearcats won two games March 9, before going scoreless March 10 and losing both match-ups. "We had errors early and we couldn't rebound," Anderson said about the second day's action.

"We played defense and hit the ball," Anderson said.
...
"(Morris) threw well and looked good," Anderson said.
...
"A couple of girls hammered the ball, but right at people," Anderson said.
...
"This is a big weekend," Anderson said. "Hopefully we become more comfortable with this extra time outside." Anderson said the tournament features four teams from the region. -

Northwest coach Ryan Anderson said Reed is one of the conference's elite pitchers.
...
"We were helping her with a lot of pitches that weren't strikes," Anderson said.
...
"We got in some tough situations, and (Krueger) handled it pretty well," Anderson said. "She threw well, but she just didn't get any run support."
Allowing only one hit spanning the first two innings, Krueger looked as if she was cruising after recording two quick outs in the third. -

Northwest head coach Ryan Anderson said it has been a frustrating first part of the season.
"The team is just tired of it," Anderson said about being inside. "We finally have the chance to get outside, then we have to go inside. People are frustrated right now."
With rain in Friday's forecast, Anderson said weather could play a role in this weekend's Missouri Southern tournament.
"It doesn't seem like there is any glimpse of light, either," Anderson said.
Despite the weather concerns, the Bearcats look to get back into its form from two weeks ago when they swept the Evangel tournament competition before the next day's action was canceled.
Northwest begins the tournament paired with the University of Missouri-St. Louis. The Riverwomen are 4-6 and Anderson said he is familiar with their team after facing them last year as the Missouri-Rolla coach.
"They were scrappy," Anderson said.
