Ron Anderson will leave the city to work in Suisun City after almost four years of service
    ...
Grover Beach will be looking for a new city manager after Ron Anderson resigned this week.

Anderson, who has served as city manager of Grover Beach since November 2001, e-mailed Mayor John Shoals to tell him he was accepting a job as assistant city manager in Suisun City, near the Bay Area. He left voice messages with City Council members Wednesday morning before heading off on a scheduled vacation to his cabin in the Sierra mountains. He will continue working in Grover Beach until his new job begins Sept. 16.

In Suisun City, Anderson will report to newly appointed City Manager Suzanne Bragdon, who has worked on economic development in Grover Beach since 2003.
    ...
Bragdon was instrumental in bringing Anderson aboard, said interim Suisun City Manager Jim Randall.
    ...
Anderson is the third high-ranking official to leave Grover Beach in the past two months.
    ...
According to Anderson, the decision was a matter of simple economics.

The Suisun City position will pay $117,000 a year, compared to the $109,000 he was making in Grover Beach. Also significant was the fact that city employees don't have to contribute to their retirement fund in Suisun, adding up to a 24 percent salary increase.

"It was an offer I couldn't refuse," he said.

"I think we accomplished an awful lot in four years in Grover," he said.
