REBECCA J. ANDERSON, PHD.JOINS COVANCE STRATEGIC PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT TEAM
Princeton, N.J., December 11, 2000 - Covance Inc. [NYSE: CVD] announced that Dr. Rebecca J. Anderson has joined the company as a consultant within the Company's Strategic Product Development (SPD) unit.In this position, Dr. Anderson will advise small- to medium-sized drug development companies on strategies to achieve their product development goals efficiently and economically.Covance's SPD unit has been involved in more than 60 drug development programs in the last four years which include monoclonal antibodies, protease inhibitors, and aldose reductase inhibitors for diseases such as asthma, AIDS, and diabetes, respectively.
"Dr. Anderson's experience in neuropharmacology discovery, as well as her clinical research experience in Phase II/III trials, provides a valuable base of expertise that is difficult to find in our industry," said Matthew Palazzolo, Vice President of Covance's SPD services in North America.

Dr. Anderson brings 17 years of drug discovery and clinical pharmacology experience to Covance, with the past 4 years in the CRO industry.Most recently, she was Executive Director, Business Center Head, Clinical Services, for Covance's West Coast-based clinical operations.In that role, she had global responsibility for clinical operations and business development primarily focused on biotechnology and emerging markets.Previously, she was the Managing Director at Kendle Inc.'s Los Angeles and San Diego clinical operations.Rebecca was also the Group Leader, Neurological Diseases at Parke Davis & Company (formerly Warner Lambert/Parke Davis), where she developed new in-vivo models for drug screening and mechanism of action testing and new drug development strategies.
Dr. Anderson graduated from Coe College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and received her doctoral degree in pharmacology from Georgetown University in Washington, DC.
