A seasoned PR professional with more than a decade of communications, public relations and journalism experience, Rebecca Buxton Anderson founded RBA Communications in early 2000.
With her broad experience in public relations planning, marketing communications, crisis counseling, issues management, media and speaker training, media/analyst relations and special events, Anderson offers a proven ability to identify and execute effective communications programs that enhance corporate reputations and cultivate the support of mission-critical audiences.Previous and current clients include enterprises in the media, entertainment, interactive marketing, venture capital, education, wireless, and consumer technology industries.
Prior to forming her consulting practice, Anderson was vice president, communications and synergy for The Walt Disney Company's Internet unit.There she developed a strong reputation as a savvy media relations counselor, leading communications for both the corporate parent (Walt Disney Internet Group) and each of the company's operating units and brands (Disney.com, ABC.com, ABCNEWS.com, ESPN.com, Family.com, and the GO.com portal).She oversaw the company's internal and external communications efforts and served as spokesperson during three mergers and corporate reorganizations, innumerable strategic partnerships, the spin-off of a tracking stock, several high-profile lawsuits, and the explosive FBI arrest of a senior officer for allegedly using the Internet to solicit sex from a minor.She also managed communications regarding public policy issues as complex and broad as online privacy protection, Internet taxation, online gambling, and Internet safety.
Before Disney, Anderson managed public relations for Sierra On-Line, then the top-selling developer of CD-Rom games.There she helped to launch award-winning titles in the adventure, simulation, and strategy genres, generating national publicity that cemented Sierra's reputation as the leader of CD-Rom based interactive entertainment.Other experience includes positions in public relations and marketing communications at Steve Dahl & Associates and Eastern Oregon Specialties.
Anderson began her career in the late 1980s as a reporter for the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce, where she covered commercial real estate news and the City Hall/Metro beats.She received her B.A. in History from Whitman College in Washington State, and earned the coveted designation of Accredited in Public Relations in 2001.
