Ray B Anderson RBA Consulting
Knowledge is Everything
About Ray B. Anderson Consulting
Ray B. Anderson has more than 35 years of industrial and consulting experience. He received his BS in metallurgical engineering from the University of Illinois. After graduating, Ray spent five years with the United States Air Force. His first assignment was at Keesler Air Force Base, Biloxi Mississippi, where he participated in an accelerated course in communications electronics. Ray was the maintenance officer for communications at Chanute Field, Il. Overseas, he served at Ramstein Air Base, Germany on a major NATO communications relay station, and was involved in the first inter-continental satellite data transmission from Early Bird. He left the USAF as a captain.
Ray spent five years working for the Metals and Controls Division of Texas Instruments from 1966 to 1971. At Texas Instruments, Ray was awarded five US patents for product and process innovations in clad metal systems.
During the 1970's, Ray gained a great deal of experience working with stainless steel. He spent four years as a district sales/technical representative for INCO, Inc. He was the production manager for Pfizer Composite Metals where he developed a process for manufacturing titanium/aluminum clad plates for special applications. Ray was also a senior development metallurgist for the Crucible Steel Division of Colt Industries where he developed a process for stainless clad carbon steel (tri-ply) for cookware.
Ray briefly served as vice president of technology at Phillips Precision Drilling in Tallmadge, Ohio, during which time he researched, designed and built equipment based on principles of residual stress reduction. He soon found himself at LTV and J&L Specialty Steel in Louisville, Ohio, where he served as a senior product engineer, plant metallurgist, and metallurgical lab manager.
Ray was responsible for a number of innovations during the 20 years spent with LTV/J&L. He harnessed the little known property of magnetic remnance in metastable stainless steel to solve customer fabrication problems. He revised the finishing production process and procedures for Bright Annealed stainless steel. He wrote an SAS-based mainframe computer program for tensile products comprehending all relevant steel compositional and process variables, reducing the missed properties reject rate from 35 percent to under five percent. He helped revise and write the LTV/J&L Lab Quality Policy Manual and was intimately involved in development of 1st, 2nd and 3rd tier policy and procedure documentation and work practice revisions required to achieve and maintain laboratory accreditation.
With his extensive and diverse work experience, Ray chose to channel his knowledge toward consulting. His services are highly specialized and much needed by professionals in his field. Ray's candid nature and strong, traditional work ethic account for his efficiency and the high value of his work.

Police Capt. Ray Anderson is one of the most well-known police officers in Lawrence. Everyone remembers the DARE cop, he said. People come up to him in public places like grocery stores to shake his hand and see if he remembers them.
Anderson teachers fifth-graders at every school about the dangers of drugs. If he sees kids who look like they may be getting into trouble, he's always ready to help out.
