   Anderson is chairman, CEO and founder of Interface, Inc., one of the largest producers of commercial floorcoverings headquartered in Atlanta.In 1996, he received the inaugural Millennium Award from Global Green and was recognized as the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year for the Southeast Region.A year later, Anderson was appointed co-chair of the President's Council on Sustainable Development, which advises the White House on environmental policy.He is a graduate of the Georgia Institute of Technology in Atlanta.

   Time International magazine recently heralded Ray Anderson as one of its "heroes of the environment."Ray also was awarded the 2001 George and Cynthia Mitchell Prize for Sustainability for being a "pioneer in using innovative approaches to change past practices and eliminate waste."
   
   As founder and chairman of Interface Inc., a global manufacturer of modular carpeting, Ray has been championing the green movement from the inside.His goal is to eliminate the company's negative environmental footprint by 2020 in an effort called "Mission Zero."
   
   Ray graduated with highest honors when he received his Georgia Tech industrial engineering degree in 1956.He has since received honorary doctorates from Northland College, LaGrange College, North Carolina State University and the University of Southern Maine.
   
   He has served on the Georgia Tech Advisory Board, Student Success Center Steering Committee and the Georgia Tech Foundation board, among others.He has worked with the University of Texas Center for Sustainable Development, Rocky Mountain Institute, Georgia Conservancy and the Trust for Public Land Chattahoochee River Land Protection Campaign, among others.
