Ray Anker Anderson Ray Anker Anderson, age 85, passed away November 30, 2001, at his home in the presence of family members, his pastor, and close friends. He was born in Boston, Massachusetts, to Anker Juel Anderson and Margeurite Rivette Anderson on January 4, 1916. The family migrated to Eastern Idaho when Ray was 4, after their home in Massachusetts burned. He attended high school in Idaho Falls and graduated from IF High School in 1934. He attended the Southern branch of the University of Idaho in Pocatello for one year in 1935, and then, due to Depression conditions worked in Idaho Falls at Broulim's Market. Ray married Ruth Wilkie January 12, 1941, at the First Presbyterian Church in Idaho Falls, a loving union that has survived just short of 61 years.

After the start of World War II, Ray was classified 1A Limited, so he became a welder in the shipyards in San Francisco where he remained for the duration. He returned to his family in Idaho Falls in 1945. The family then moved to Boise where Ray was Assistant Manager of CC Anderson Food Market. In 1950 he was transferred to Buhl to manage the store there. In 1951 Ray bought a Swift & Co. milk route that he operated until 1963 at Buhl. At this time Ray fulfilled a long-time desire to return to college, so he enrolled in the Pharmacy College at Idaho State University. He graduated in the same class with his son Jon and daughter-in-law Susan in 1968. The family then moved to San Jose, California, where he passed the California Pharmacy Bar exam and spent the next 15 years working at pharmacies in San Jose and Santa Cruz until his retirement in 1982. They returned to Burley, Idaho, in 1987 and then moved to Twin Falls in 1991, where they have lived since. Ray enjoyed woodworking, landscaping and reading the Wall Street Journal and was very interested in computers. He has been a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Burley and then in Twin Falls. Ray is survived by his wife Ruth of Twin Falls; his sons, Jon (Susan) of Burley, and Jerry (Jeanette) of San Jose; and 5 lovely grandchildren. Ray was preceded in death by his daughter Judy in 1961, his parents, and a brother Marvin. The family is most appreciative of the loving care Ray received from the First Choice Hospice and Dr. Randall Skeem.
