   Dr. Nina Anderson Dr. Nina Anderson grew up in Michigan. Though she has lived in Georgia for several years, people still detect a Midwestern accent. Dr. Anderson graduated from Harvard College before continuing her education at the University of Michigan and Michigan State. She received her DVM from Michigan State University in 1998. Dr. Anderson has been and remains active in leadership with the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). She became part of the BAC team in July of 2005.

   In their book "Super Nutrition for Dogs 'n' Cats," veterinarians Nina Anderson and Howard Peiper state, "Statistics show that the normal life span for the average pet dog or cat in the United States has decreased by approximately 18 percent in the last 40 years."
   
   They contend the reason is largely due to commercial pet food that often lacks sufficient minerals, enzymes and nutrients.
   
   In addition, the high ash content of several commercial cat foods has been blamed for urinary tract problems, especially in male cats.
   
   Since the health care industry routinely tells people that eating healthier will help them live longer, it seems reasonable the same logic applies to our pets.
