Daytona Beach, Fl - Bethune-Cookman College has announced the appointment of Michael Anderson as Vice-President for Student Affairs, effective July 1, 2004. Anderson, 42, comes from Philander Smith College in Little Rock, Arkansas, where he served as Executive Dean of Administration under Dr. Trudie Kibbe Reed, who will begin her duties as the fifth president of Bethune-Cookman College on August 16, 2004. "I'm looking forward to the challenge of providing a home away from home for the students of Bethune-Cookman College," Anderson said. "It is my goal to deliver the best customer service possible for the students." A 15-year veteran of the United States Air Force, Anderson earned a bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice at Park University in Parkville Missouri and a master's in Business Administration at Rockville University in Sarasota, Fla. Prior to Philander Smith, Anderson worked in the Pulaski County (Little Rock, Ark) Special School District as Director of Safety and Security. Anderson replaces Mr. Clarence Childs, who recently retired after 35 years of service to the College. -

It seems to have worked out so far for Mr. Anderson. I wonder how much of that is that his employer wasn't as careful about hiring him as the government of Guam. we'll just have to wait and see which story is a more typical version of Rochville success. -
