   Mike concentrates his practice in the areas of health care counseling and litigation, with particular emphasis on transactional and regulatory counseling, and compliance counseling, including the civil and criminal defense of fraud related allegations, the conducting of internal investigations, and the development and implementation of corporate compliance programs.
   
   Client Work
   
   Mike is particularly experienced in representing providers of long term care. He serves as principal outside counsel to several of the nation's largest long term care companies whose operations include skilled nursing, assisted living, continuing care retirement and independent living facilities. Mike also serves as counsel to ancillary services providers (physicians, therapists, home health agencies, pharmacies, diagnostic clinics, durable medical equipment suppliers and the like), providers of retirement housing and providers of hospice care. He also serves as general counsel for a national long term care professional association.

   Mike serves as general counsel to the Assisted Living Federation of America and also chairs the association's Legal Advisory Committee. He also sits on the following American Health Lawyers Association committees: Long Term Care Committee; the Fraud and Abuse, Self-Referrals and False Claims Committee; and the Physician Organizations Committee. Additionally, Mike is a member of the Health Care Contracting Committee and the Procurement Fraud Committee, both of the American Bar Association's Section of Public Contract Law as well as the Health Law Litigation Committee of the ABA's Section of Litigation and the ABA's Health Law Section.
   
   Publications, Presentations and Recognitions
   
   Mike is a frequent speaker and author on a variety of health care topics and has written several books on health care-related compliance issues, including his most recent publication "Compliance Issues in Gastroenterology". He also authors the monthly legal column for the magazine, Assisted Living Executive and regularly contributes to various other health care publications.
