   Dr. Anderson is Nathan Associates' chief economist and has worked for the firm since 1998, directing two large USAID projects in South Africa and Egypt. He also participated in a trade and poverty program at the Ministry of Trade and Industry in Mozambique. Recently he spent a month in Jordan helping the Ministry of Labor devise an employment and training strategy to move the poor from welfare to work.
   
   USAID praised his leadership of the Support for Economic Growth and Analysis (SEGA) project in South Africa. He raised the level of economic training in South Africa through economic courses for government officials in the Departments of Treasury, Trade, and Industry, and the president's office; graduate programs in universities, and the Mandela Economic Scholars Program. The Mandela Scholars Program trained 50 disadvantaged South Africans in economics at the master's and doctoral-level in the United States. Recognizing the adverse effect of the AIDS epidemic on the South African economy, under Dr. Anderson's leadership, the SEGA project funded research on the economic impact of HIV/AIDS on 16 economic sectors.
   
   Dr. Anderson has more than 30 years' experience working with international organizations including the World Bank, Inter-American Development Bank, and the United Nations, as well as numerous government ministries, central banks, and national institutes of statistics. In addition to his work in economics, Dr. Anderson has performed considerable work in statistics, database design, and systems programming.
   
   Fluent in Spanish and knowledgeable of Portuguese, Dr. Anderson has worked in Argentina, Chile, Peru, Uruguay, Central America, the Caribbean basin countries, Egypt, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, and South Africa.
