VIROQUA, Wis. - Mervin "Shorty" Anderson, 80, of 200 Park View Manor in Viroqua, died Thursday, Aug. 19, 2004, at his apartment of an apparent heart attack.
He was born on July 2, 1924, in Clinton Township, Vernon County, to Alfred and Hilda (Parr) Anderson. He graduated from Westby High School in 1942.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
During his working years he had farmed, worked at Tri-State Breeders and at Damaskus Steel Corp. in Rockford, Ill. Prior to retiring, he worked for Howard Johnson Enterprises in Viroqua.
After retiring, he worked as a chauffeur for Phil Bigley and Kelly Marx, and worked as a desk clerk at the Midway Motel in Viroqua. He was a member of the Jacobson-Olson American Legion Post 138 in Viroqua and the Viroqua Eagles, and had served as president of the resident council at Park View Manor.
