Congratulations to M.T. Anderson (and Candlewick Press) for winning this year's National Book Award for Young Readers.M.T. Anderson is an amazing writer. His books cover a wide range of stories, writing styles, and ideas.Octavian Nothing is such a strange, brooding book, and, yet, it's compelling to read.I haven't finished it, but all the while I was reading I thought, how did he come up with this?Wouldn't you like to get a look inside his mind to see what else is lurking there?Though I guess we do with each and every book he publishes.Who knows what he will come up with next!

We should have stickered copies of the book sometime the middle of next week.Reserve your copies now, so that our sales people can call you when they arrive. The Astonishing Life of Octavian Nothing by M.T. Anderson; 0-7636-2402-0; $17.99

The Clue of the Linoleum Lederhosen, by M.T. Anderson
    ...
Anderson explores the significance of being a fictional character from books nobody's read in decades, and in between the jokes, there are moments of lovely prose and poignance, such as when Jasper Dash confronts people who don't share his appreciation of rationality and optimism:

Anderson is an inventive and versatile writer. His YA books Feed and Burger Wuss showed a sophistication that I feared he might sacrifice as he turned his attention to books for younger audiences. But with The Clue of the Linoleum Lederhosen, he's found a way to thread thoughtful moments through the funny stuff.
