   Manufacturing Automation, Inc. was founded in 1993 by Lee Anderson, President and chief design engineer for the company.

   Manufacturing Automation, Inc. is a spinoff of a small contract manufacturing business that Lee Anderson was involved in back in the 1980s.
   
   Lee Anderson saw a need for low cost smt pick and place assembly equipment that would allow small startup companies to afford some level of automation in their smt assembly lines.
   
   He went on to design a product that would be used initially in his own production lines. Later after much refinement the product was intriduced as the Placemax Smt Pick and Place Assembly Equipment product line.
