Darren Anderson '94
Darren transferred to Pacific Lutheran University. While working on his B.A., Darren discarded the dream of making music for rent money, and instead read through the classics. He graduated in English and Philosophy and flew to Ireland for a year at Trinity College, Dublin. Darren was able to read more classics and see Europe first hand. Darren spent some time volunteering with AmeriCorps teaching English to refugees. This experience lead Darren back to PLU teaching English as a second language. Memories of good times caught up with him, and Darren called fellow Green River Alumna JaPonica Johnson and asked her elope. Darren is now teaching at Tacoma Community House in downtown Tacoma. and has written a novel that will soon be published. He says the novel mercilessly satirizes academia and some of his moments at Green River. Look for his remarkably handsome face in the dust jacket of the next book you read that bears the blurbs "exciting" "original" or "mercilessly satirical." (Although the book was written under a pseudonym that Darren did not share with us.-ed.)
