    South Lebanon was also home to fundamentalist Christian minister and preacher Rev. Kash Amburgy who developed a following on local radio and television stations. Most notably in the 1960s and 70s he was known the owner of Kash's Big Bargain Barn.

    His discount store business closed in the early 1980s but continued his ministry of sponsoring and hosting pilgrimage trips to the Holy Land until his death in 2002.

    Rev. Kash D. Amburgy

    Rev. Kash D. Amburgy, 80, of South Lebanon, Ohio, died peacefully Wednesday, Oct. 23, 2002, at Bethesda North Hospital.

    He was born on March 18, 1922, in Lee Rose (Owsley County), Ky., the son of Floyd D. and Jalah (Spencer) Amburgy.He moved to South Lebanon from his home in Kentucky in 1947.He was a devoted Christian and very proud of his family heritage from their humble beginnings in Eastern Kentucky.

    He was ordained a minister more than 60 years ago and was in his 53rd year with the Bible Church of God Radio Broadcast on radio station WPFB, where he gave his last live broadcast on Sept. 29 of this year.

    He and his wife of 53 years, Mary Lou, had organized hundreds of trips to the Holy Land.Kash was not only a respected minister but was also a successful businessman in Warren County.He was a developer and home builder, having built more than 350 homes in the Lebanon and South Lebanon area.

    He and Mary Lou established Kash's Big Bargain Barn, a furniture store in South Lebanon, and operated the store for 23 years where his popular slogan was "Save Cash with Kash."He was proud to be known as the "Ole Country Boy from South Lebanon, Ohio."

    He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Marvin and Claude; and sisters Lois Bowman and Ilene Amburgy.

    He is survived by his devoted wife, Mary Lou (Gilbreth) Amburgy of South Lebanon; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wayne and Gertrude of Booneville, Ky., Blaine and Helen Ellis and Joan and Cotton Amburgy, all of Lebanon; sisters Faye Roblin of Stanton, Ky., and Kay Penwell of Trenton, Ohio; sisters-in-law Lola Amburgy of South Lebanon, Betty Amburgy of Kentucky; brother-in-law Clarence Bowman of South Lebanon; and a host of nieces, nephews and other family members.

    ARRANGEMENTS: Visitation will be from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 27, at the Stine-Kilburn Funeral Home in Lebanon.Visitation will also be held on Monday, Oct. 28, from noon until 1 p.m. at the Kings Point Church of God, Ohio 48, Maineville, with funeral service following at 1 p.m.

    SOUTH LEBANON | The Rev. Kash D. Amburgy, a minister, evangelist, entrepreneur and radio personality who owned several businesses and built hundreds of homes in the South Lebanon area, died Wednesday at Bethesda North Hospital.

    Proud to be known as the "ole country boy from South Lebanon," Rev. Amburgy humbly embarked on his career as a young man in eastern Kentucky by selling Bibles door-to-door.He moved to South Lebanon with his family in 1947.

    Mr. Amburgy purchased the church where he was pastoring, the Bible Church of God in Lebanon, and established it originally as a church for his extended family.He and his wife of 53 years, Mary Lou, organized hundreds of trips to the Holy Land and Rev. Amburgy himself made 83 trips, Penwell said.

    Outside the church, Rev. Amburgy was a successful businessman.He formerly owned Kash Amburgy Lumber Co. and Kash's Big Bargain Barn, a furniture store in South Lebanon that he and Mary Lou operated for 23 years.His popular slogan for the store was "Save Cash with Kash."

    Friends may call from 3 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Stine-Kilburn Funeral Home in Lebanon, and from noon to 1 p.m. Monday at Kings Point Church of God in Maineville.

    The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Monday at the church with the Revs.
