In what has come as a big blow to Wakf Minister Anis Ahmed and relief to industrialist Mukesh Ambani, the state government recently told the Aurangabad bench of the high court that the appointment of Wakf CEO A R Sheikh was not done as per the Waqf Act.
Sheikh was appointed by Ahmed, who's been claiming that the land on which Ambani is building his 60-storey home belongs to Wakf.
Even after Wakf Chairman M A Aziz had stated that the land did not belong to Waqf, Sheikh, on the instructions of the revenue department, had sent a letter to Ambani asking for the land to be returned.
