David Alves has been a member of Staffordshire Ambulance Service for eight years, having joined when he was eighteen years old, he is a Technician at Stafford Headquarters and dedicates most of his spare time and off duty to working with SASHA.He is married to Suzy one of our other Directors and the accountant for SASHA, they have no children so are taking an active role within the charity.He more recently decided to take a more pro-active role in SASHA by becoming a Director on the Board of Trustee's. David has been a member of SASHA since the very first day, he started the idea along with Neville Ashwood and Stuart Alves back in July 1997, he has had a major input into establishing and recent development of SASHA.He made the first trip with the four Emergency Ambulances in November 1997 and has since been on numerous trips to Bulgaria, Albania, Macedonia and will be part of the team to develop our role into the Ukraine when we are to supply Kiev with some much needed help. David's role in SASHA is working alongside Neville Ashwood in maintaining our Humanitarian Aid activities in Bulgaria, Albania.

David is expanding his knowledge of computers by helping to up-grade these and to install CD Rom, sound cards, speakers and installing Windows 95 and Office 95 onto each unit.This has been very successful for us, and David is presently engaged in doing the same with computers we received from our local Hospital, Stafford District General, these will also be delivered by David and a team from SASHA to Bulgaria and Albania. David is always keen to make trips and has been on our last few trips to Bulgaria Macedonia and Albania, he enjoys the driving through many different Countries and likes to meet all the colourful characters we encounter along the way.One of his highlights was on a trip last year, where he met and became friends with one of "Her Majesty's Agents", a real life 007.He was treated to meals and trips around the Embassy where this man operates and was even invited back for drinks at his villa.During summer 2000 David and his wife Suzy were invited to Buckingham Palace where they met the Queen, they spent a morning at the Palace and really enjoyed the day. David has a major role to play in SASHA and for the future he will be heavily involved in how it develops and evolves.
