Abel R. AlvesHAMPTON - Abel R. Alves, 74, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 7, 2004, after a long struggle with Parkinson,s disease.Born Nov. 28, 1930, in New Bedford, Mass., he had been a Hampton resident for over 50 years.Mr. Alves had served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War.He worked in civil service as a military personnel specialist retiring in 1986, after 30 years of service at Fort Monroe.An active member of American Legion Post 48, he was a past commander and served as athletic officer for many years.
