Carmen was probably the 4th or 5th photographer we interviewed about working at our wedding, and so by the time we sat down with her, I knew very clearly what I wanted out of the arrangement.Carmen fit the bill perfectly: her rate for 8 hours fit our budget, she included 4x6 and 5x5 proofs, and she gave us our negatives after 6 months for no additional charge.

She was polite, easy to work with, and respectful of our guests.She used both black and white and color film at our request, and we were very pleased with the results!

Carmen was organized, focused, and knew how to set her professional boundaries in a diplomatic, polite manner that respected our feelings and that of our guests.Some photographers that we interviewed were rather bossy, and wanted to tell us the "correct" way to photograph a wedding.But Carmen listened to what we wanted ... as someone who is very assertive and picky herself, I have to say that Carmen really seemed to understand what we wanted and wasn't afraid to ask questions to clarify points!

I would recommend Carmen Alvarez as the best choice to anyone.She was so nice to work with, honest and reliable (two big pluses when it comes to planning a wedding!), and I felt so comfortable the day of the wedding with her as our photographer!

Carmen Alvarez was one of the last pupils that the great Kolischer tutored.Later on she perfected her studies under the Russian Alexander Uninsky and graduated from the Juilliard School in New York.She won several competitions in Montevideo, New York, and Dallas, where she met and was married to an American violist.She never returned to Uruguay.

Since she left our country we lost complete sight of her and did not know anything about her career, which has been very active and successful.

The Embassy of Uruguay in Great Britain recently sent us a CD of Ms. Alvarez, which has resulted in a complete rediscovery of her pianistic talent, who since very young chose to look for better opportunities outside our country.She now resides in London.She is remembered as a very promising performer through her earlier recitals and concerto performances.
