Irma Alvarado graduated from the Jane Addams School of Social Work at the University of Illinois at Chicago with her Master's in Social Work in 1995.Her experience in outpatient child and adolescent mental health settings developed her interest in psychotherapy with children, adolescents, and families.As a bicultural/bilingual therapist, Ms. Alvarado has concentrated experience with Latino immigrant children and families.Her clinical practice also includes mental health services in the public schools, clinical supervision, case management, and child welfare.Ms. Alvarado is currently providing community based mental health services to adults, children, and families at Funston School Community Program and LaGrange Community Nurse Program.She is a doctoral student at Loyola University Chicago, School of Social Work.Her dissertation will focus on the experience of spirituality in Latino immigrants through the process of cultural transition.
