Dr. Gil Alvarado*, a naturopathic physician and licensed acupuncturist, has over 30
years clinical experience using a wide range of natural therapies for your health and
healing.
He is the founder of The New Life Center, the longest functioning naturopathic
and oriental medicine health center in North Carolina.
Dr. Alvarado's focus is to help
you find and clear the cause of your difficulties, while providing you with effective relief
from your symptoms.
Everyone who receives care from Dr. Alvarado is treated as a whole person.
No one is
treated as just a disease, just a body, or just a mind.
You may have various difficulties or
illnesses, but you are much more than any of these.
People come to Dr. Alvarado with

During your first visit to The Center, Dr. Alvarado will talk with you and review your
personal health history and current health challenges, give you a physical examination,
explain to you what he finds, give you the initial plan for your care, and then give you
your beginning treatment(s).
This first appointment will be approximately 2 hours long.
He takes the time to understand your problems and to know you as a person so the
individualized program of care you receive is right for you.

He grew up in San Francisco, California.

Dr. Alvarado graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of the
State of New York.
He received his acupuncture degree from The Northwest College of
Acupuncture in Portland, Oregon.
He received his degree of Doctor of Naturopathic
Medicine from The National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon.
He
also holds a Diplomate in Acupuncture of The National Certification Commission for
Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine.
He established The New Life Center in Charlotte,
NC in 1980 and moved it to Chapel Hill, NC in 1992.
Dr. Alvarado is the founding president and a current member of The North Carolina
Association of Naturopathic Physicians.
He is a licensed primary care naturopathic
physician in the state of Arizona and a licensed acupuncturist in the state of North
Carolina.
He was a charter member of The National Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine
Alliance, he is a lifetime member of the American Association of Acupuncture and
Oriental Medicine and he is a member of the North Carolina Association of Acupuncture
and Oriental Medicine.
