Laurel V. Alsentzer, M.D.

Dr. Alsentzer received her Bachelor's degree as a Harold Sterling Honor Scholar in nursing from Vanderbilt University in 1983 and her Medical degree from the Medical College of Pennsylvania in 1987 where she graduated AOA. She completed an pediatric residency at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia in 1990. She served as director of the Vanderbilt Pediatric Clinic Acute Clinic until 1993.

Board certified by the American Board of Pediatrics, Dr. Alsentzer also holds certification in Pediatric Advanced Life Support. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics, and a member of the Davidson County Pediatric Association, Philadelphia Pediatric Society, and the Nashville Academy of Medicine. She is also an assistant professor at the Vanderbilt University School of Medicine.

A volunteer preceptor for nurse practitioner students, Dr. Alsentzer has also taught in a national medical pediatric board review course. She has also coordinated the pediatric program for Trevecca's physician assistant program. She is the recipient of the prestigious Janet M. Glaucoma Memorial Award.

A native of Virginia, she is married and has three children. She enjoys smocking and computers. She joined Old Harding Pediatric Associates in 1993.
