   Norm Allen - COO Currently Norm Allen is Chief Operating Officer and one of the founders of UltraCell.
   
   Immediately prior to UltraCell Norm was Founder and CEO of PowerSmart Inc which was sold in 2002 to Microchip Techology. He led the effort to acquire Duracell's smart battery technology and establish PowerSmart, Inc. as a newly organized company owned by PowerSmart management, the Excelsior Private Equity Fund II and Mikron AG. Norm Allen's 27 years in the battery industry includes his prior position as President of the New Products and Technology Division at Duracell, Inc. At Duracell he lead product development and the transition to manufacturing of Lithium Ion, Nickel Metal Hydride, Lithium MnO2, Zinc Air and several flashlight products. He was on Duracell's Operating Committee and headed up all R&D, Rechargeable and Global OEM Sales. Prior to joining Duracell, he held a number of managerial positions in new product development, manufacturing, and sales and marketing in the zinc air and automotive battery divisions of Gould, Inc. Prior to Gould Mr. Allen was a vehicle design engineer for Ford Motor Company.
   
   Norm holds a B.S. in Science Engineering from the University of Michigan (1972) and an MBA-Finance/Marketing from the University of Michigan (1976).

   Norm Allen's 23 years in the battery industry includes his most recent position as President of the New Products and Technology Division at Duracell, Inc. He was on Duracell's Operating Committee and headed up all R&D, Rechargeable and Global OEM Sales (~400 people). In this position Mr. Allen was responsible for all alkaline battery research and development and led the development of the "Duracell Ultra" line of alkaline batteries. Major accomplishments included the development of the SBS specifications created in conjunction with Intel Architectural Labs, and the design of an advanced smart battery chip, sold under the PowerSmart trademark. Under Mr. Allen's leadership, Duracell launched a series of new nickel-metal hydride and lithium ion batteries for the portable computer, cellular phone and camcorder markets, many of which featured PowerSmart technology. Prior to joining Duracell, he held a number of managerial positions in new product development, manufacturing, and sales and marketing in the zinc air and automotive battery divisions of Gould, Inc.
