They even took the radio out," said Mark Allen, senior manager of Jeep Truck Design Studio. In addition to the radio, the designers also took out the rear seat.In its place sits a spare 37-inch tire which is clamped to the 17-inch wheel, again, all the better for rock crawling. As Allen explained, rock crawlers often deflate their tires, and need them clamped so they stay on the wheel. You can't see it here, but there's a Detroit Tigers logo in the center of the spare. The 4-Wheel Drive emblem on the back was spray-painted through a stencil, which Allen said was the same way many Jeep enthusiasts used to do things. There's also a customized rollbar, and a customized hood from American Expedition Vehicles with dual air intakes. The concept is in keeping with the iconic image of the Jeep brand, Allen said."If it looks like the Jeep we always built, then I did my job," he said.

According to Mark Allen, Jeep senior manager of the Product Design office, the JT was created from a chopped-up, two-door hardtop JK model with the addition of the steel bulkhead to divide the passenger compartment from the cargo area (from a Dakota pickup box).
    ...
According to Mark Allen, the JT is so feasible because it is basically the Egyptian military version (J8) with a different top.The Jeep JT Prototype appeared at Moab this year and the word is that the JT will be making its first formal appearance at this year's SEMA show in late October. If you have an interest in the JT, show Chrysler some feedback It's possible that if enough interest is shown in the JT, it will become reality.

"We were given our dog with design instructions and requirements for painting it," said DaimlerChrysler's lead pound keeper on the project, Mark Allen, Senior Manager in the company's Jeep® studio."But we're designers - we don't do anything by the book and usually see things a bit differently. At that point, we decided to give our dog a bit of horsepower."

The result was a canine version of the 1970's television show "The Six Million Dollar Man," as Allen and his team completely rebuilt HEMIDOG, inserting a mock HEMI engine - complete with chrome exhaust pipes - into the back of its fiberglass Fido and arching its design forward to truly show the illusion of speed and motion.

Allen is quick to note that no real dogs were harmed in the making of HEMIDOG, but it was a bit painful parting with his team's version of man's best friend.
