Before joining Aberdeen in early 1999, Allen worked as a market strategy consultant for San Francisco Bay Area-based Internet technology companies.He also spent six years as a senior reporter for McGraw-Hill's Information Services.
He helped launch McGraw-Hill's first pre-Internet foray into the electronic delivery of proprietary marketing data, providing services, such as the electronic distribution of architectural and construction contracts to a global audience.At McGraw-Hill, he published articles on construction, the electronic delivery of proprietary marketing data, and authored several of the first articles on the Internet's projected impact on the architectural and construction community.His freelance work on international marketing has been published in World Trade, and other articles have been published in McGraw-Hill publications such as Engineering News Record.
Allen has published works on Internet marketing technologies since 1995.
Education
Allen has an MBA from the University of Washington, where he was awarded the Frankland Marketing Scholarship, as well as the top honor for developing an integrated advertising campaign for Proctor & Gamble.His studies focused on Internet marketing and e-commerce, as well as environmental management.A popular campus speaker, Allen was chosen as the graduation speaker for his MBA class and served as the MBA Executive Board Member.
Allen also holds a BA in History and English from the University of Virginia, where he earned the Viele Scholarship for leadership.Allen's past volunteer activities have centered on helping developmentally disabled children through his work as the Special Olympics Auction Director and as a sea kayak guide for Environmental Traveling Companions.
