    Tring Martial Arts - Founded & run by Chris Allen

    Chris runs classes in Tring in Hertfordshire and has been training in Martial Arts since the age of 9. At this time Chris was living in Hayle in Cornwall. Chris moved to Hertfordshire for employment where he took up kickboxing. Since then he has attained his 1st degree's in Kickboxing, Tai Chi Chuan, Judo and Krav Maga Maor.

    Congratulations go to Chris our chief instructor for being presented Instructor of the Year 2006.Chris was also formally presented his 2nd Dan Black Belt in Kickboxing and received an Order of Merit for his contribution to his style and to the Streetwise Organisation.Chris also collected his certificate for completing the 100 man Kumite and collected on behalf of Kevin Bettles, Tanya Adams, Dominic Veal and Daniel Barnes.

    Sunday 18th March 2007 - Chris Allen earns his 2nd Dan in Kickboxing

    Although not officially presented with his certificate, Chris Allen our Chief Instructor took part in a 4 hour grade assessment to earn his 2nd Dan in Kickboxing last Sunday.Following a very tiring day at the Kumite, Chris and fellow students worked very hard in a gruelling assessment.The nature of Black Belt gradings are such that it is held behind closed doors, only other black belts may be present.Chris would not comment on what he had to do, but he looked thoroughly shattered and bruised.

    Tring Martial Arts kickboxing team took part at Armageddon III kickboxing tournament held at Bracknell Leisure Centre this weekend.Daniel Barnes, in his first ever fight, won his fight very well, beating his opponent in both rounds to take his trophy, "Daniel performed superbly and coped with the pressure and tension that a ring fight can give you, we are all very proud of him and look forward to his next fight", Chris Allen said after working Daniels corner.

    On 18th February 2006, Chris Allen our founder qualified in First Aid for contact sports."I've added this qualification to my existing St. Johns Ambulance qualification as it will give me extra insight and experience should I need to provide any First Aid during classes or at competitions", said Chris after the course.

    The course was held at Cheltenham College of Martial Arts, which is also the Head Office for our governing body the World United Martial Arts (WUMA).Whilst at WUMA, Chris also qualified as a Competition Referee for Semi and Light Contact competition fights, and for judging Self Defence and Forms / Kata."Participation in this course will allow me to articulate to TMA students how points and continuous fights are refereed and judged, thus our competition results will be higher", Chris commented after the course.

    This weekend clubs associated with the Streetwise organisation attend a two day course organised by Krav Maga GB.Chris Allen, represented Tring Martial Arts for a very successful and enjoyable course spread over Saturday and Sunday 3rd and 4th December.With well over 30 students from other clubs in attendance, we were taught the simple art of self defence from a leading instructor and founder of the Krav Maga Maor system.
