Officials from Nstar, the utility that provides power for the Breyers plant, also attended the meeting where some potentially money-saving energy-efficiency measures were put on the table, according to Nstar spokeswoman Caroline Allen.
Nstar has had a delivery-rate freeze in place for seven years, Allen said, but the power supplied by a third party accounts for about 78 percent of the factory's electricity bill.
The supplier, which Nstar declined to name, did not participate in the talks.
"We have worked with them over the years to try to reduce their usage," Allen said.
