S. Shujaat Ali is an associate in the Structured Finance Practice Group.His practice includes the representation of issuers, sellers and servicers in mortgage-backed and asset-backed securities transactions and whole loan trading and financing.
As an outgrowth of the current economic environment, Mr. Ali currently counsels a variety of clients in the trading, acquisition, management and liquidation of distressed whole loans and REO properties.Since October 2005, he has also restructured financing facilities to ensure that the parties receive favorable Bankruptcy Code treatment, and more recently, he has structured transactions to address the servicing issues raised in the American Home v. Calyon litigation.
Mr. Ali joined Thacher Proffitt in 2002 as an associate in the Real Estate Practice Group.
