Bruce E. Aldrich
LAURENS - Bruce Earl Aldrich, 43, of Laurens died Friday, June 21, 2002, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 12, 1958, in Oneonta, the son of Earl B. and Barbara (Faulkner) Aldrich.
A lifelong area resident, Bruce graduated from Laurens Central School in the Class of 1976.
He worked in partnership with his father and his brother Keith on the family dairy farm in Laurens. Bruce loved, above all things, spending time with his daughters and being outside, whether it was camping, hunting, snowmobiling, motorcycling, mowing his lawn, swimming, boating, or walking the cows to pasture.
He loved his family and farm, his friends, the Laurens Fire Department and all creatures great and small, especially his cows and his dogs. He was never far from telling a funny story and could stand for hours, expounding on the funny side of life. His humor never let him down, even as he dealt with his illness.
During the last few years, with his lifelong friends and family at his side, he opened his heart to many new friends who cared for him and filled his days with the laughter and words he needed to hear. Just as he played Santa at the Laurens school many times, he gave generously of his heart and humor to all.
He was a member of the Laurens Presbyterian Church, a longtime member and officer of the Laurens Volunteer Fire Department, member of the Oneonta Rod & Gun Club, as well Ducks Unlimited
He is survived by his two daughters, Stephanie and Holly Aldrich of Otego; his mother, Barbara Aldrich of Oneonta; his brother and sister-in-law, Keith and Janet Aldrich of Laurens; two nieces, Stacy Aldrich of Laurens and Cindy Aldrich of West Laurens; many aunts, uncles and cousins; his loving companion, Julia Kristofik and her children of New Lisbon.
He will be greatly missed by his special caregivers, who became close and loving friends. Bruce was predeceased by his father, Earl B. Aldrich, and his grandparents, Boyd and Gertrude Aldrich and Edith and Edward Faulkner.
...
