The Oakland Animal Food Bank has appointed a new executive: Joseph Alderisio Sr. accepted the volunteer position, effective immediately, the organization said in a news release tonight.
Alderisio, of Captive Fastener Corp., has a long history of supporting Oakland Animal Hospital's community outreach programs, such as Food for Fido, it says.
"The effort to provide for the pets of families in need is extremely important during the current economic conditions," Alderisio said in the statement."When budgets are stretched and families are struggling, we can make a difference by providing assistance for their pets."
Oakland Animal Food Bank collects and distributes food for pets belonging to families in need.
"Recognizing his long standing commitment to animal welfare and his recognition of the importance of the human-animal bond, it is most appropriate to have Mr. Alderisio in a leadership role for our new Oakland Animal Food Bank," said Dr. Robert Gordon, owner of Oakland Animal Hospital.
