   Donna Alden, a professor of English at Dona Ana Branch Community College and the college's professional development coordinator, has been elected chair of New Mexico State's Faculty Senate for a one-year term beginning in May.
   
   Alden's responsibilities will include conducting the faculty senate meetings; serving on the Academic Deans' Council, the Adm i n i s t r a t i v e Council and as an ex-officio member of the Board of Regents; attending standing committee meetings; and assigning faculty senate representatives to many committees across campus.
   
   The election was held in February.
   
   She replaces James O'Donnell, an associate professor of curriculum and instruction at New Mexico State.
